For more than 20 years, Robert has been helping companies protect their trademarks and copyrights.

Before launching Amplitude IP, Robert served as a trademark and copyright attorney at a large and highly-regarded top-tier general practice law firm.  Wanting to focus more on his clients and to be able to assist those clients more efficiently, he started Amplitude IP.

Through Amplitude IP, Robert assists individuals and companies with all facets of trademarks and copyrights.  He works with clients of all sizes (from individuals and start-ups to Fortune 500 companies with globally-recognized brands) and with clients across all industries.  Many of his clients are based in the United States, but Robert is also frequently hired by companies abroad, including non-U.S. law firms and attorneys seeking Robert's expertise and assistance for their own clients.

Robert regularly assists and counsels clients in regard to using, protecting, asserting, defending and managing their trademarks and copyrights around the world.  

On a daily basis, he handles and advises clients on matters such as:

• Clearing trademarks for use and registration; 
• Preparing and filing trademark and copyright applications; 
• Prosecuting trademark and copyright applications through to registration; 
• Sending and responding to cease-and-desist letters; 
• Filing trademark oppositions and cancellations; 
• Representing clients in trademark and copyright litigation;
• Documenting and recording trademark and copyright transfers;
• Negotiating trademark and copyright license agreements; 
• Recording registered IP with U.S. Customs;
• Protecting rights in trade dress and product and packaging designs and configurations;
• Obtaining domain names through ICANN /UDRP proceedings; and 
• Managing clients' trademark and copyright portfolios worldwide.

Robert has a background in civil litigation and corporate law and is frequently recognized internationally for his uniquely extensive work with the alcoholic beverage, retail, mass media, financial, real estate, software, cybersecurity and aerospace industries.

Robert also is a prolific writer and speaker in the fields of trademark and copyright law, and he has led numerous presentations and seminars for organizations such as the California State Bar, U.C. Berkeley, U.C. Davis, Thomson Reuters, Practising Law Institute (PLI), Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB), CLE International, The Seminar Group, Knowledge Congress, the International Trademark Association (INTA), and the International Wine Law Association (AIDV).
